"Roll in slow where the wood smoke grows,
where Park Lake glimmers and a soft breeze blows.
There’s Texas-style barbecue, Wisconsin-made grace,
at Johnny B’s Rolling Smoke, me and Piper’s place.
Pipe takes her post with her paws by my feet,
one eye on the water, one eye on the meat.
She sniffs at the brisket and watches my plate,
patiently plotting and willing to wait.
The smoker rolls steady, the hickory sings,
while savory smoke wraps its way around things.
The brisket has bark with a tender inside,
and the pulled pork falls softly with nothing to hide.
Ribs with a rub, kissed low by the flame,
each smoky bite earns Johnny his name.
Add sauce with some zing, let the sweet meet the heat,
then sit by the lake and lean into the feast.
There’s pizza and nachos, fish fry too,
a cold drink for me and some fresh water for you.
Live music may wander across the warm air,
while Piper keeps watch from her spot by the chair.
The deck catches daylight, the lake catches sky,
and an old veteran rests as the white clouds roll by.
No hurry, no worry, no need for a race,
just smoke, shore, and stillness at our favorite place.
Some folks chase fancy, some search far and wide,
but peace may be waiting at a table outside.
With a plate full of barbecue, a pup full of cheer,
and kindhearted people who’re glad you are here.
So roll on the smoke, let the good moments stay,
let Pipe wag her tail at the end of the day.
For brisket, for friendship, for lake-country grace,
Johnny B’s Rolling Smoke is me and Piper’s place.
One piece for the road,
one breeze through the trees,
one veteran, one Piper,
two wandering peas.
Peace. Piece. Peas."
